Seitan Reigns forever, as long as you aren’t on a gluten-free diet. Other than those who are gluten intolerant and
those with celiac’s disease, seitan is a great source of protein, a super affordable alternative to commercially made
meat substitutes, and very delicious. These receipes produce a product that is very similar to meat in taste and texture,
without any of the cholesterol, fat, or shitty mistreatment of animals.
Basic Receipe
What you will need:
2.25 cups of vital wheat gluten flour
2 tablespoons of McKays Seasoning (can replace with faky, or if out, vegan ramen soup packet)
1 2/3 cup warm water
1/3 cup soy sauce
1 tsp rosemary
1 tsp thyme
1 tsp oregano
What you need to do:
Add all of wet ingredients together
Add all of dry together separately
Blend both together, kneading as you mix.
After the wet and dry are thoroughly mixed and kneaded together, set the ball of dough aside.
In a separate pot, bring to a boil 6 cups of liquid (1 cup of soy sauce, 5 cups of vegetable broth,
your favorite seasonings as desired)
Place dough ball in the water and boil for 1 hour.
Remove from heat and use as you would meat in any recipe.
Next level shit:
After preparing the dough ball, cut it into thin strips of raw dough. Fry the pieces of dough in a frying pan
with olive oil until brown on both sides. Once the pieces are fried place all together in the water mixture in
step 5 above and boil for an hour.
This method makes for better seitan to use on the grill as the frying and then boiling makes the pieces inflate.
To make BBQ seitan on the grill, after the seitan is allowed to cool, Place in a bowl with BBQ sauce and stick in
the fridge for 2 hours. Now you are ready to grill and enjoy!!
